RIVERTON MAN DIES IN MISHAP.
Riverton (AP) -- A Riverton oilfield worker, HOWARD GROUNS, 32, was killed Sunday during a flash fire at a Pan-American well, in the Beaver Creek Field 15 miles southeast of Riverton.
GROUNS was on a catwalk 75 feet above the ground when the fire started. He began climbing down a ladder, but either fell or jumped from the ladder and landed in the midst of the flames.
Two other men working on the rig for Maddox Well Service were not hurt.
Cause of the fire has not been determined. Coroner Larry Lee said an inquest will be held.
