Janesville, WI Drownings, Jul 1872

Three ladies, Mrs. Mark Ripley, Lucy Smith and Lulu Hanson, were drowned near Janesville, Wis., a few evenings ago. The two latter went into the river to bathe and got beyond their depth, when Mrs. Ripley went to their assistance, and all three were drowned.

Mrs. Ripley was my Gr Gr Grandpa's sister. Funny thing is, I have always been terrified of water and almost drowned once . Mrs. Ripleys son, George Ripley drowned also when he was a young man.
