Father Of Seven Is Killed As Train Strikes His Truck

Merrill, Wis.--(UP)--Edward Eegner, 40, town of Pine River, was killed today when a Milwaukee Road passenger train struck his truck at a grade crossing here.

Authorities said Eegner drove his loaded gravel truck onto the crossing as the train was pulling into the station.

The truck was wrapped around the Diesel engine of the train which also was damaged.

Eegner was thrown about 150 feet by the impact of the crash. He was taken to the Merrill hospital but was dead on arrival. He is survived by his wife and seven children.
