Motorcycle Plunges Into Side of Car at Crossing
COLLISION FATAL TO TWO
Pair Die When Motorcycle Runs Into Railway Gas Car.
CENTRALIA, Wash., Sept. 28. -- (Special.) -- Dwight Havens, 19, son of Claude Havens, sheriff of Thurston county, and Joe Daracunes, 21, were killed today when their motorcycle ran into the side of a Northern Pacific gas car at Grand Mound, six miles west of Centralia. Young Havens was identified by State Highway Patrolman West, who arrived on the scene shortly after the accident, but it was several hours before Daracunes' identity was determined. Both youths resided in Olympia.
The accident occurred during a hard rain. According to J. P. Ward of Grand Mound, the only eyewitness, the boys apparently did not see the car.
