ROANOKE CO., Va. -
Police say alcohol may have been a factor in a deadly crash in Roanoke County.
It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday in the 6600 block of Plantation Road. Only one vehicle was involved.
Investigators say a Jeep Wrangler ran off the right side of the road and hit several trees before coming to a stop about 20 feet off the road.
The driver was injured and transported to a hospital. The passenger, Helen Marie Kennedy, of Salem, was ejected from the vehicle. The first officer on the scene began CPR but was unable to revive her. Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
Police are not releasing the name of the driver at this time.
The crash is still under investigation.
