Wytheville man, two from Bassett killed in wreck Sunday on I-77 in Wythe Co.

WYTHE CO., Va. -
Virginia State Police have released the names of the three people who died in a crash Sunday on Interstate 77 in Wythe County.

The driver of the FJ Cruiser was Anthony Asbury of Wytheville. Asbury was 45.

The driver of the Camaro was 28-year-old Shan B. Martens of Bassett. Her 9-month-old daughter, Bria Hensley, also died in the accident.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

At approximately 2:33 p.m., a 2007 FJ Cruiser was traveling north on Interstate 77 when it crossed through the median and struck a southbound 1994 Chevrolet Camaro. A 2007 Toyota Camry traveling southbound on I-77 then struck the Camaro. The impact of the crash sparked a fire among the vehicles.

The driver of the FJ Cruiser was transported to Wythe Community Hospital, where he later died. State police are in the process of notifying the male driver’s next of kin.

The female adult driver and infant child passenger in the Camaro were both transported to Wythe Community Hospital, where they were declared deceased. State police are awaiting the Medical Examiner to confirm the identification of the driver.

The driver of the Camry, Peter InterDonato, 66, of Ripley, W.Va., and passenger, Beverly InterDonato, 61, of Ripley, W.Va., suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to Wythe Community Hospital for treatment.

The Virginia State Police Wytheville Division Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
