Ennis, TX Area Tornado, Jul 1909

Storm Wrecks Building.

Special To The News.

Ennis, Tex., July 23.----A peculiar storm story has gained currency here, having been at first considered lightly, but the story has been confirmed by parties directly interested. A tenant on Col. Fork's farm near Bird Schoolhouse, twelve miles to the southwest of Ennis, was living in a new house built for him this year, and on the last Saturday while he and his family were away from home a small cyclone came up and seems to have made a whirl right at his home and tore the house all to pieces. His furniture was broken and household goods scattered in the field. A stock shed near the house was not disturbed. A pen was blown from around his hogs and about twenty-five chickens were killed.

This twister seemed to have moved toward the west, and at about the same time another blow occurred on a neighboring farm and did considerable damage and moved off toward Frost.
