CAR PLUNGES INTO RIVER; FIVE DROWN.

Los Ebanos, Tex., (AP) - Five women, all Mexican Nationals, drowned in the murky waters of the Rio Grande Monday after an automobile plunged from a ferry boat.
Four bodies were recovered Monday night on the United States side of the river. There was an unconfirmed report a fifth was recovered on the Mexican side.
Police searched for the driver, whom they identified as Luis Montehongoy, also a Mexican national. They said he freed himself from the submerged vehicle and swam to the Mexican side.
The accident occurred moments after Montehongoy drove the car aboard the ferry, officers said, bound for San Miguel, Mexico, opposite this border village.
"It shot off into the water and bounced downstream before disappearing in 15 or 20 feet of water," ferry operator Francisco Rivas said. He told police "it looked like the driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake."
