Galveston, TX Bus Crash On Causeway, Oct 1982

STATUS OF INJURED REPORTED.

Galveston - Seven member of Ball High's pep squad remained hospitalized Saturday after a wreck that killed two people sent their bus hurtling through the railing on the southbound causeway and onto the northbound lanes Friday night.
MICHELLE JOHNSON, 14, a member of the Ball High pep squad, was the only passenger listed in serious condition, though hospital officials refused to disclose any details about her injuries.
The driver of the bus, 54-year-old MARLENE CANTON, was listed in fair condition at John Sealy Hospital. MRS. CANTON, who was pinned in the bus cab for nearly an hour, suffered no broken bones in the accident, but Galveston Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Wayne Blevins said she was undergoing tests to determine whether she had sustained internal injuries.
Pep Squad Coordinator TESSIE HOWARD, 34, also was listed in fair condition at John Sealy with a fractured leg and a possible back injury, Blevins said.
EUGENE SCOTT, a team chaperone, was transferred to St. Mary's Hospital early Saturday, where he remained in stable condition after being treated for a broken leg at John Sealy.
Also in fair condition at John Sealy were SUZANNE SCURRY, 17, CARLETTE NORWOOD, 17, and assistant pep squad coordinator BESSIE CALDWELL, 39. No details were available concerning their injuries.
Treated and released from John Sealy Hospital emergency room were:

VERONICA BORDELON, 15; SHEILA BAZILLE, 17 and CARMON COLBERT, 14, were treated and released from Memorial Hospital of Galveston County in Texas City. MS. BORDELON and BAZILLE were transferred to John Sealy for further treatment and released Saturday morning.
