State Hospital Fire Fatal To 4 Women

WICHITA FALLS, Texas, Dec. 9.—(AP)—Four women patients died of suffocation or shock after a small fire in a lower floor wing of he Wichita Falls State Hospital early Saturday. Two others suffered minor burns.

All patients were evacuated within a few minutes after flames burst through a closet door, said Dr. L. MacKechney, hospital superintendent. The flames were confined to an adjoining linen room. Damage was slight. Cause of the fire was not known.

Artificial respiration failed to revive the four victims, identified as Mrs. Maggie Willingham, 58, Wichita Falls; Miss Ora McIntyre, 66, Fort Worth; Mrs. Lou Electra Capps, 67, Nocona, and Mrs. Mary Lavender, 77, Fort Worth.
