Gun Accident Near Childress Fatal

Childress, May 30. – The accidental discharge of a shotgun was fatal to Robert S, CHEATHAM, 17-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. T. CHEATAM, pioneer residents of the Shores Creek community eight miles south of Childress last night.

Accompanied by two other boys, including his brother, he had gone to hunt rabbits on his father’s pasture. When a rifle bullet failed to kill a rabbit, he reached for a shotgun on the fender of the automobile. It discharged, wounding Robert in the stomach.

He died in two minutes.
