Four-Alarm Blaze In Houston Block

HOUSTON, July 13.--A 4-alarm fire that raged for more than two hours in the heart of a downtown block bounded by Main, Fannin, Rusk and Walker, caused an estimated $300,000 loss and injuries to 21 city firemen and a Navy seaman early today.

Nearly 200 guests were routed from the 10-story Cotton hotel at Fannin and Rusk and fled into the streets, many scantily dressed and some barefooted. The hotel, a Houston landmark suffered damage around $50,000.
