Man's Drowning Ruled Accidental
CISCO...(RNS)--Derlin J. (Doc) Townsend, 57, of Cisco, drowned early Wednesday morning at the Fisharama, which he operated at Lake Cisco.
Funeral will be Friday at the Rust-Martin-Rhyne Chapel. time is pending with Rust-Martin-Rhyne Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco.
Eastland County Sheriff L. E. Sublett investigated the drowning. Justice of the Peace L. W. Dallon pronounced him dead at the scene and fueled accidental drowning.
Dallon said it appeared he had been fishing and fell into the water. Mrs. Jewell Bowles of 1357 Sycamore in Abilene, who fished there often, Dallon said, discovered the body floating underneath one of the docks about 10:30 a.m. Dallon said the body had been in the water at least seven or eight hours.
Born Aug. 10, 1914, in Adamson, Okla., he has operated the Fisharama for the past three months, when he moved here from Ranger. He married Kathryn Jenkins March 16, 1968, in New Mexico. He was a World War 11 veteran and was a member of the VFW Post in Liberal, Kan.
Survivors are his wife: three sons, Jay of Oklahoma City, Okla., Carroll and Clifton, both of Pryor, Okla., his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Jay C. Townsend of Hartshorne, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Gaye Murrey of San Antonio and Miss Sherrill Townsend of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mrs. William Kuhen of Durant, Okla.; five grandchildren.
