Portland, TN Head On Crash Kills Seven, Oct 1999

FIERY COLLISION KILLS SEVEN IN TENNESSEE.

Portland, Tenn. - Seven people, including five teen-agers, died in a fiery head-on collision, authorities said.
A Nissan Stanza filled with the five youths may have been speeding Friday when it rounded a curve on Highway 52 west of Portland and struck a Chevrolet Blazer, state trooper Gary Holpsford told Nashville's WKRN-TV.
The Blazer burst into flames and killed the couple inside:
STEPHEN L. CARNEY, 43;
and his wife DONNA E. CARNEY, 39.
Three of the five teens killed were siblings.
They were identified as:
JAMES H. BRASSELL, 16;
ALICIA D. BRASSELL, 13;
and REDONA TIFFANY BRASSELL, 17;
also killed were 19-year-old JOE FARQUHAR, and JAMIE MARIE GREEN, 16.
All victims lived in Portland, which is 32 miles northeast of Nashville.
