Rapid City SD Head On Collision, Dec 1956

FIVE DIE IN COLLISION NEAR RAPID CITY.

Five persons were killed and a baby critically injured in a two-car head-on collision near Rapid City on New Year's Eve.
The accident occurred on State Highway 79, about six miles north of Rapid City.
Killed were KENNETH BOE, 28, Rapid City; his wife, VERA, 29; Airman 3C FRED WHITTAKER, 18 and Airman 3C JUAN TRUILLO, both stationed at Ellsworth Air Base; and SHEILA HAYES, 18, of New Underwood.
The BOES' 18-month-old daughter, DIANA, was hospitalized in Rapid City in critical condition with a fractured skull.
MRS. BOE was a sister of Mrs. William Waterson, Jr., of Lead.
The accident occurred about two hours after, WHITTAKER had been stopped twice for speeding.
