Burned Out Apartment Building

REGINA FIRE KILLS 2.

Regina (CP) -- A man and a woman were killed and four persons injured Sunday in a fire that destroyed a three-story city apartment building.

Dead are ALEX KOSTICHUK, who police said was in his 50s, and ROSE WOZNESENSKY, 52.

MELINDA WOZNESENSKY, 7, ROSE WOZNESENSKY'S grand-daughter, was in critical condition in hospital today. The others injured were GLADYS CHRISTIE, 60, who was in fair condition, MIKE MORRISON and KEN WILSON, who both were in good condition in hospital. All the victims were from Regina.

An inquest hearing into the fire, the third major blaze in the city area in 24 hours, was to be held today.

Some of the firemen who fought the apartment fire came to the scene directly from a fire that destroyed the Pioneer Electric Co. plant in the city.

Early Saturday, a fire caused extensive smoke damage to a students' dormitory at Notre Dame College in Wilcox, Sask., 20 miles south of Regina. Three students were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation and one was reported in serious condition.
