Valley Falls, RI Steam Mill Fire, Apr 1874

A brick steam mill in Valley Falls, R. I., owned and operated by Dexter & Brothers, of Pawtucket, for the manufacture of cotton yarn, was damaged by fire at 1 o'clock yesterday morning to the extent of from $15,000 to $18,000. It was insured for $30,000, equally divided among the following-named companies: Providence, Washington, Merchants', Atlantic, Equitable, and Narragansett, of Providence; Ætna and Hartford, of Hartford; Continental and Manhattan, of New-York; and North British and Mercantile, of London, England.
