Providence, RI Fires, Nov 1956

Damage hit $100,000 in two separate business block fires at Providence, R. I.

Three shops, a club and a storehouse were damaged in one fire in a three story wooden building on Westminster street. An hour later firefighters fought a second blaze at Union and Webster avenues. Three more shops, a bakery and a drugstore were damaged and one fireman was injured by falling glass.

All told, the two fires injured four firefighters and three others had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
