11 ARE KILLED IN STORM.

AVALANCHE HITS APARTMENT HOUSE IN QUEBEC.

Quebec, (CP) -- A violent early morning storm caused 11 deaths and extensive property damage Thursday in the eastern part of the St. Lawrence river valley.
Four tenants were killed, a small boy was missing and a dozen persons were injured by a rain loosened avalanches which destroyed a crowded, four story apartment house six miles east of Quebec.
Muddy waters of the flooded Portneuf river swept away a frame house at Portneuf, 40 miles west of Quebec, drowning five members of one family. Villagers fled to high ground.
The engineer and fireman of the Montreal-Quebec night express were killed when the train hit a washed out culvert east of Portneuf. The conductor and several passengers were injured.
