Blacklick, PA Fatal Lightning Strike, Jun 1907

Killed by Lightning.

John Wells a prominent citizen of Burrell township, just north of Blacklick, was instantly killed Friday by lightning. The deceased, who was about sixty years old, was working in his garden, when the current it is thought struck a clothes line and followed it to where he was working and it is supposed he died from the shock as there were no marks upon him. He is survived by his wife, one son, Oliver, who resides in this place, and one daughter, Blanche, of Unity,Westmoreland county. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, and interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery near Coral.
