HURT AT A FIRE
Two Firemen Hurt at a Blaze at the Pennsylvania Training School
Special to The Inquirer
MEDIA, July 2.—The big laundry building at the Pennsylvania Training school at Elwyn, caught fire at noon today, and the third and fourth floors were completely gutted. Two firemen, members of the Media Fire Company, which responded to an alarm were badly injured.
George R. Butler, while running with the hose carriage, fell, and one of the wheels passed over his arm and head. His scalp was torn from one side of his head, and his skull slightly fractured. George Powell was also hurt about the head by a large board falling on him at the fire.
The Media Fire Company, with engine, truck and hose carriage, made the mile over the rough roads in quick time, and prevented the fire from spreading. The girls’ cottage was endangered at one time, and the inmates were all removed. The loss by the fire is about $8000, fully insured.
