MAN AND WOMAN DROWN IN THE LEHIGH RIVER

By Associated Press to the Patriot.

Allentown, Pa., Sept. 9.—Charles Hughes and Mrs. Joseph Green, both of Woodbury, N. J., were drowned last night while rowing on the Lehigh River. Hughes came here three weeks ago as foreman of a pile-driving gang employed by the Lehigh Valley Transit Company in the construction of a coal wharf. Yesterday Mrs. Green arrived here and the two registered at a local hotel and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hughes. In the evening they went rowing and two hours later their boat was found floating bottom up. Search was made for the bodies today and they were recovered.
