Child Four Afire Puts Out Flames With Towel
When little Betty Bryner, four years old, threw a turkish towel around her flaming clothes this morning at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Ethel Morris in East Church Place, the child probably saved her own life.
She is a patient at Connellsville State Hospital with burns on the back extending from the neck to the waist. Her condition at noon was regarded as fairly good.
The child's clothes ignited from a gas stove. She was alone at the time but grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her body. Screams brought her mother, but it was the child's own quick action that prevented more serious burns.
Mrs. Bryner and Betty reside at Charleroi. They have been visiting at the Morris residence.
