Painter Run, PA House Fire, Dec 1908

Mr. Joseph ADRIANCE of Painter Run, was severely burned on Dec. 10th, in trying to save his house from destruction by fire. Some oil had been spilled on the kitchen floor and Mr. ADRIANCE attempted to burn it off. When he applied the match the oil burst into flames, which filled the room and he smothered the flames as best he could with his coat. He then went for water and when he returned found the second story in flames, which he could not extinguish. He was badly burned and almost overcome by smoke, but he succeeded in reaching a window from which he jumped. He was found unconscious on the ground by neighbors and taken to the home of Mr. S. RARICK, where he is rapidly recovering.
