Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- (AP) -- A light plane crashed on Wilkes-Barre Mountain killing a Phillipsburg, N. J. couple.
The plane's passengers were identified as MR. and MRS. JAMES V. SMITH of Phillipsburg. The crash occurred during a fog Saturday shortly after SMITH, about 50, and his wife, took off from the Bethlehem-Easton airport enroute to Scranton.
JOSEPH ENGLISH, who lives on top of Wilkes-Barre Mountain, said the plane skimmed over the roof of his house, about 10 feet above the chimney and crashed near a State Highway Department garage.
