Holgate, OH Automobile And Train Collision, Oct 1922

FIVE ARE KILLED IN RAILROAD GRADE CROSSING CRASH.

Holgate, Oct. 27. -- Two girls and three boys were killed when the automobile in which they were riding was struck by a B. & O. freight train at a crossing near here last night.
The dead are:
CECILIA ROYAL, 14.
Her brother FRANK ROYAL, 17.
THELMA SEIMET, 17.
VIRGIL BROWN, 18.
LARRY SCHWAB, 17.
All lived near New Bavaria.
The girls attended school at Holgate and the young men called last night to accompany them home. The party left Holgate about 10:30 o'clock for New Bavaria. The train, switching at the crossing, backed slowly into the automobile and dragged it more than 200 feet.
The bodies were badly mangled.
