Hamilton, OH Butler County Courthouse Fire, Mar 1912 - Two Firefighters Perish
FIRE FIGHTERS PERISH UNDER TUMBLING WALLS
HAMILTON, O., March 14.---Two firemen were killed and it is believed four other persons were buried in the ruins of the Butler county court house which was destroyed by fire at noon today.
Fireman JOHN HUNKER and WILLIAM MOEBUX were killed outright by the falling of a 125-foot tower in which the fire started.
Four other persons are missing and it is believed their bodies are under the mass of blazing debris. Two other firemen were seriously injured.
Deputy County Clerk John Heath was severely burned. The loss will be at least $150,000. The fire started in the tower of the building from crossed electric light wires.
