Shooksville, OH Fireworks Explosion, June 1926

TWO MEN KILLED, GIRL AND MAN INJURED IN FIREWORKS BLAST.

Youngstown, O., June 17. -- (UP) -- Two men were killed and a man and a girl were seriously injured in a fireworks explosion during a religious celebration at Shooksville, Briar Hill, last night, it became known today.
The celebration was under the auspices of St. Rocco's Catholic Church and three of those killed or injured had come here to supervise the pyrotechnics display.
FRANK POLUSO, 18, and JOSEPH VITAL, 24, both of Newcastle, Pa., were killed and PETER J. IODICE, 24, Youngstown, and MISS BEATRICE FORBES, 20, Newcastle, were injured.
Shortly after the blast occurred Rocco Casella and Paul Magliay, both from Newcastle were placed under arrest.
The two men had contracted to stage the display, it was said.
