Youngstown, OH Grocery House Fire, Jan 1897

FIRE AT YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO.

Youngstown, O., Jan. 28. -- The wholesale grocery house of Leavitt, McConnell & Co., in the Schultz block, was entirely destroyed by fire at seven o'clock.
The fire was caused by a heater in the basement.
Adjoining buildings were damaged, but saved by the fire department. Firemen claim there was a lack of water pressure. Losses as follows:
Leavitt, McConnell & Co., $50,000; insurance, $20,000.
Emil Schultz, $25,000; insurance, $10,000.
Eddy & Johnson, $500; fully insured.
