Elyria, OH Lightning Strike, June 1844

During the afternoon of yesterday, a boy, 11 or 12 years of age, by the name of SCHNEIDER, was killed by lightning near the old Penitentiary lot, in this city. The ground for several feel around him was much torn. At the time he was struck he was walking near a three story brick house.
This is the first instance within our memory of a person being struck by lightning, while near a large house, without the building being injured.
