DORMITORY BURNS AT OXFORD.
Oxford, O., Jan. 16. -- Hepburn hall, the girls dormitory of Miami university, was destroyed by fire, which started Wednesday afternoon in the attic, it is suupposed from crossed electric wires to the roof. Fortunately nearly all of the 100 young women, who make their home in the building were in the gymnasium at the time and thus escaped. No one was injured.
The building was three stories. All the personal effects of the young women on the top floors were lost. In the other two stories personal property was saved.
The building, valued at $40,000 is a total loss to the state. Ir was built three years ago. At the time the finance committee of the house in the general assembly pronounced it the best constructed public building in the state for the expenditure.
