DISASTROUS BLAZE.

Fire at East Grand Forks, N. D., Causes Heavy Loss.

Grand Forks, N. D., Jan. 20.---East Grand Forks has suffered another severe fire, and the finest saloons in the city, an elevator and the bridge approach are in ruins. A few minutes before four o'clock this morning fire was discovered in the basement of W. T. Franklin's saloon, in East Grand Forks, and within ten minutes the entire building was a mass of flames, and the fire had worked its way across the street under the east approach to the bridge and Russell & Doll's saloon and the transfer elevator of the M. and N. Elevator company were soon in ruins. Dan Sullivan's saloon, the finest north of Chicago, was also entirely destroyed, causing a loss of $30,000. Across the street were Dobmeyers Brewing company's building. Rood & Ilstad's and the O'Brien block all of which were burned. The transfer elevator was one of the first three buildings to take fire and it is now a mass of flames. The east approach to the bridge is a mere mass of charred embers and the east bent of the bridge itself badly damaged.
