7 MEET DEATH FROM TORNADO.

NORTH DAKOTA COMMUNITY HAS BAD STORM.

Grand Forks, N.D., July 3. -- (AP) -- At least seven persons were killed and 14 hospitalized when a tornado struck three places near Grafton, N.D., early tonight.
Six migrant farm workers, three of them children, were killed on the LUTHER KYKKEN farm two miles west of Auburn, and one man, FRANK ROGALLA, died in a hospital after the twister hit Warsaw, N.D., south of Grafton. MRS. ROGALLA was reported missing.
Nearly the entire town of Warsaw was wiped out, states attorney WALLACE WARNER said, with only the Catholic church and town hall left standing.
The migrant laborers were all members of several families, about 20 persons, living in one house at the LYKKEN farm, seven miles north of Grafton.

JULY 3 1947 TORNADO AT WARSAW ND

I DON'T RECOLLECT MRS ROGALLA GONE MISSING, BUT I DO RECALL SEEING
THE TORNADO AS IT WAS HEADING TOWARD MY HOME WHEN WE SAW IT.
IT WAS STILL WNW OF WARSAW. IT DESTROYED THE HOME OF A MRS
MESHEFSKI AND PUT HER IN THE FIELD ABOUT 1/2 MILE EAST OF WARSAW
AND ALTHO COVERED WITH DIRT SHE WAS OK...AND ALTHO IT DESTROYED THAT HOME AND DAMAGED OTHERS IT DID NOT DO AS MUCH DAMAGE, AS I RECALL, TO THE REST OF THE TOWN....THERE WERE SEVERAL UNITS OF
FARM EQUIPMENT DAMAGED IN WARSAW INCLUDING AN ALLIS-CHALMERS 60 COMBINE WHICH WAS DESTROYED.

WE WERE EATING SUPPER AT THE TIME AND I HAD GOTTEN UP FROM THE TABLE TO GET SOMETHING AND HAPPENED TO LOOK OUT THE NORTH WINDOW AND SAW THIS STRANGE CLOUD AND TOLD MOM AND DAD TO LOOK AT THIS STRANGE CLOUD AND THAT SORTA INTERUPTED SUPPER.
AT THAT POINT IT WAS TURNING EAST TOWARD MINNESOTA AND WENT AROUND THE SOUTH SIDE OF WARSAW. NEXT MORNING DAD TOOK US TO SOME OF THE FARMS THAT WERE DAMAGED AND WANTED US TO KNOW WHAT A TORNADO COULD DO AND STAY PREPARED FOR IT WHEN THERE WERE STORM THREATS. (STRAW THROUGH A POST OR TREE ??).
