Bufurd County, NC Cyclone, Nov 1889

A Carolina Cyclone.

CHARLOTTE, N. C., Nov. 28.---A cyclone passed over Buford county yesterday. Houses were blown down, and trees torn up by the roots. The residence of a farmer near Washington was blown to atoms. The entirely family, father, mother and four children were killed instantly. A factory near Washington was blown down. Two were killed and a dozen others received bad injuries. Mattie Cheve, the pretty daughter of a farmer, was caught up and carried away. Her body has not yet been found. Reports are very meager and it is impossible to obtain the names of all the killed.
