5 KILLED WHEN CAR ROLLS OVER, BURNS.

Hamlet, N.C., July 31. - (AP) - Five persons were killed today when their car jumped a curve, tumbled into a field and burst into flames on U.S. Highway 74 about four miles east of Hamlet.

The dead - four men and a woman - were identified as:
HIAWATHA DAVIS;
WILLIE BOGGAN;
IRVIN GANEY;
JAMES STEVENSON;
and SARAH JOHNSON, all of Hamlet.

Police reported the five were trapped in the vehicle when it overturned and caught fire. Officers said all apparently burned to death.

The car was traveling west on 74 between Hamlet and nearby Laurinburg when the driver apparently lost control rounding a curve, police said. The vehicle roared through the front yard of a dwelling and turned over several times before coming to rest on its top in the field. Then it burst into flames, trapping the occupants.
