Kitty Hawk, NC Car Plunges Off Bridge, Dec 1959

FIVE FATALITIES RECORDED WHEN CAR PLUNGES FROM BRIDGE INTO WATER.

With two more days left on the long Christmas holiday weekend, violent death already has claimed at least 13 lives in North Carolina.
Five of the fatalities were recorded when a New York auto plunged off the Wright Memorial Bridge over Currituck Sound near Kitty Hawk on Christmas morning. One man, the driver, escaped after swimming ashore.

N. Y. Dead.
The dead, all from Brooklyn, N.Y., and all Negroes, were:
FANNIE P. PLOWDEN, 35;
ALLIE MAE PEARTREE, 45;
WALLIER EUGENE SMITH, 21;
JAMES SMITH, 25;
and JERARD WILLIAMS, 8.
The first three were women.
