Lenoir, NC Auto Crashes Into Tree, June 1965

3 YOUNG MEN DIE IN WRECK.

Lenoir, N.C. (AP) -- Three young men were killed early today when their car ran off the Connelly Springs road seven miles south of Lenoir and crashed into a tree.
Highway Patrolman Kenneth Garaventa identified the victims as:
EDWARD JOE SMITH, 23, of Rt. 3, Lenoir.
JOHN WESLEY McDONALD, 17, of Rt. 3, Lenoir.
CHARLES LUTHER BYRD, 20, of Lenoir.
The patrolman said the car was traveling at excessive speed. The vehicle was demolished. The bodies of the victims were scattered from 100 to 200 feet from the wreckage.
All were died when the wreck was discovered after 4 a.m.
