Mount Vernon, NY Two Car Head-On Crash, May 1958

6 BURNED FATALLY IN TRAFFIC CRASH.

Mount Vernon, N.Y. (UPI) - Six persons were burned to death Saturday when a driver who had been warned to stop speeding crashed his car head-on into a station wagon. Three persons were injured critically.
Three hitch-hikers riding in the automobile driven by LEWELLYN BYRD, 36, Greenwich, Conn., were injured critically. BYRD had been stopped by a policeman an hour before and warned for speeding.
The other dead were:
VINCENT MUCCIA, 38;
his father, NICHOLAS, 70;
his wife, KATHERINE, 37;
his daughter, BARBARA, 12;
and ANTOINETTE DE BIASE, 12, all of Ridgefield, N.J.
They were trapped when the station wagon burst into flames.
