TEN WOMEN KILLED WHILE MERRY MAKING.

Locomotive Strikes Church Sleighing Party Near Hornellsville, N. Y., Dashing Vehicle to Pieces and Killing or Injuring All of the Party.

Victims of Disaster Hurled Bleeding and Broken in Every Direction By Terrific Impact of the Engine, Which Was Making Fast Time.

HORNELLSVILLE, N. Y., Feb. 1.---A sleighing party from the Universalist church of Hornellsville was struck by a Pittsburg, Shawmut & Northern locomotive near Arkport this evening. Ten occupants of the sleigh were killed and three others were seriously injured. The injured were brought to a hospital. All of the dead and injured are matrons. The dead are:

The injured:

Mrs. F. R. Rowley, Mrs. Bond, Mrs. Wallace Clark.

The pilot of the locomotive struck the sleigh with great force, reducing it to splinters and hurling the women in all directions. Every woman in the sled was killed or injured.

Members of the party who were in other sleds hurried back to the assistance of their unfortunate companions, and the train backed up to aid.
