Manchester, NH Wagon Accident, Jul 1866
SEVERE ACCIDENT.----Mr. John D. Patterson of Manchester, had his leg broken, last Saturday evening, under the following circumstances: He was riding in a wagon with three other gentlemen, when, as they were approaching Granite Bridge, the horse took fright at some boys running upon the rails between the walks. Becoming partially unmanageable, the wagon struck a post at the end of the bridge, and the three inmates were thrown out. Mr. John Prince, who was driving, still clung to the reins and checked the horse. Mr. Patterson was the only one injured. He struck upon his left hip, breaking the bone of the leg near his body.
