Beemer, NE Auto And Truck Collision, June 1942

5 KILLED IN AUTO WRECK IN NEBRASKA.

Beemer, Nebr., June 29. -- An automobile truck collision near here today claimed its fifth victim several hours later, and tonight fear was expressed that two others, critically injured, would not live.
The dead are:
REINHARD BEHLING, 38, and his wife, ELLIAH, 27; their son, HERMAN, 7; MRS. NASH VOGEL, 56, mother of MRS. BEHLING; MANNY VOGEL, 11, son of MRS. VOGEL. All lived in West Point.
HERMAN died this afternoon. The others were killed instantly.
Two other BEHLING children, JEAN, 9, and RICHARD, 2, are in a hospital here. Their condition is critical.
The death of the five brought Nebraska's current highway fatality toll for the year to 67, compared with 91 at the same date last year.
Sheriff Charles H. Sass said the car was in collision with a truck driven by ELMER CLAUSEN, Norfolk. The sheriff said an inquest would be held.
