P-47 PILOT KILLED IN CARLETON CRASH.
Bruning, Neb. (AP) -- One pilot was killed and another managed to land his plane safely Thursday in two separate accidents involving Thunderbolt P-47 fighter planes from the Bruning army air field, Lt. Col. C. B. Stead, station commandant, said.
The fatal crash occurred approximately three miles northwest of Carleton, Neb., and the cause has not been determined, Colonel Stead said.
In the other accident, the pilot, whose name was not disclosed, brought his ship down safely, making a belly landing about 15 miles northeast of DeWitt, Neb.
