Lincoln, NE Jet Fighter Crashes into Two Bomber Planes, Nov 1956

1 DEAD AS JET RAMS BOMBERS, SETS FIRE

LINCOLN, Neb., Nov. 17 (AP)--A jet fighter plane whose pilot apparently mistook a taxiway-ramp for the runway which parallels it rammed into two parked B-47 pet[sic] bombers at the Lincoln Air Force Base tonight.

The fighter pilot was killed, seven airmen were injured and all three aircraft, worth nearly six million dollars, were destroyed.

Jet fuel from the aircraft burst into flames immediately and billowing flames vaulted high into the sky.
