THE WEEK AT VERDON.

Willie Schaffer is Instantly Killed by Lightning.

VERDON, Neb., Aug. 13.---Recent thunder storms have been doing serious damage in and around Verdon. During the thunder storm Thursday evening, Willie Schaffer, living near Barada, was struck by lightning and instantly killed. Four men who were with him were stunned and at last reports one was still unconscious.

During the storm two wrecks ago, a hog pen and hay stack belonging to Austin Sloan of Verdon, were struck. Three good shoats were killed and two stacks of hay burned.
