FOREST FIRES WANING
SITUATION IN IDAHO, MONTANA IMPROVED.
The forest fire situation in Idaho and Montana appeared better yesterday. The Idaho national guard forces had established so effectual a barrier that incendiary blazes had stopped. The fighting force also made marked progress, with the result that 800 men were discharged.
The gale that had been driving the flames in Montana toward Libby and White Fish died down during the day with two large blazes being brought under control. One fire on Flower creek near Libby was menacing the city's water supply when the turn came.
