Bainville, MT Tornado Damage, May 1933

BAINVILLE IN PATH OF HIGH WIND -- DOZEN HURT.

WHILE STORM IS SAID TO HAVE KILLED 12 IN OTHER STATES.

Bainville, May 22. -- (AP) -- A tornado swept through the main street of this town late today, injuring a dozen persons and demolishing or damaging 10 buildings. Communication lines with the surrounding territory were down.
Bainville, in the northeastern corner of Montana was in darkness tonight. Whether the storm struck nearby farms was not immediately known.

Two Badly Injured.
S. MORTENSIN, elevator manager, suffered a skull fracture and was in a critical condition. JOHN GELLEAND, section foreman, was the only other person seriously hurt.
Most of the injured persons were in a cafe when the tornado struck. The building was demolished.
Other structures that were wrecked included a warehouse and office of an elevator, a barber shop, three filling stations and a garage. Several other business buildings were damaged and four large gasoline tanks were blown down. Two elevators were unroofed.
