Bay St. Louis, MS Automobile Crash, Oct 1958

SEVEN KILLED IN TRAFFIC CRASH NEAR BAY ST. LOUIS.

Bay St. Louis, Miss. (AP) -- Seven Negroes were killed and one seriously injured in a traffic crash on old highway 90 three miles west of Bay St. Louis, Miss. at 11:45 p.m. last night.
Dead are:
HOWARD L. KING of Bay St. Louis.
BENJAMIN WALKER.
JOSEPHINE GARRETT, 67.
LILLIE BELL WALKER.
COMEALL PETERS.
MASON PETERS.
DAVID GARRETT, 67.
The injured man is ANTHONY BRIDGES, about 30, of Bay St. Louis. He is in Memorial Hospital in Gulfport with a fractured jaw, both legs broken, severe throat lacerations, multiple cuts and bruises and a fractured left ankle.
The patrol said BRIDGES could not be questioned and they were unable to learn full details of the crash.
A spokesman at the Mississippi Highway Patrol expressed belief that BRIDGES was the driver of the 1947 Oldsmobile which was crossing old Highway 90 at the Kiln Road intersection. They believe KING was driving the 1952 Pontiac which was headed west on the old highway 90.
