CASS LAKE GIVES UP BODY OF MAN

Identified as That of Joseph North, Who Disappeared Four Weeks Ago.

(News Tribune Special.)

CASS LAKE, Minn., May 22. - Joseph North's body was found floating in Cass Lake near Turtle river today. About four weeks ago North in company with Alex Kittson, left here in a row boat to go to Rice Lake to repair a house boat belonging to Samuel Sutter. They did not return as expected and a search was made for them but they could not be found.

Different stories are going the rounds as how the accident occurred, as the lake was calm at the time. Kittson has not been found up to this time but it is supposed the boat was upset and both men drowned, as the boat was found some distance from North's body. Both men were guides and made Cass Lake their home for several years. Search is being made for Kittson's body. Kittson is a son of the late Commodore Kittson of St. Paul.

KITTSON'S BODY NOT FOUND

Second Searching Party Will Be Sent Out to Cover the Lake.

CASS LAKE, Minn., May 25. - After searching the lake for 15 hours in an effort to locate the body of Alex Kittson, the searching party returned today. It was reported here that Kittson was seen working at Deer River. This led to a suspicion of foul play, but when the searching party found the rowboat which the men left, also Kittson's coat, his death by drowning was not doubted. The boat was found 10 miles from the body of North, his companion. Kittson has a wife here, a squaw. He has lived around here for 15 years and has many friends. Another party will be sent out to hunt for Kittson's body. The body of North was taken to Bemidji by the coroner.
