3 Killed in Bus Crash

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 12.—(AP)—A collision between a school bus and a motor truck today took the lives of a college athletic director, a football player and the bus driver.

George Myrum, athletic director of Gustavus Adolphus, College St., Peter, Minn., died several hours after the crash near Belle Plaine, Minn.

The other victims were Donald V. Anderson, 20, of Washburn, Wis., junior and center of the Gustavus Adolphus team, and the bus driver, Karl Olsen of St. Peter.

Grid Coach, Two Players Die When Bus, Truck Crash

Belle Plaine, Minn., Nov. 12.—(UP)—George Myrum, football coach and athletic director at Gustavus Adolphus college, St. Peter, Minn., and two of the players on the Gustavus team, were killed near here early today when their school bus collided with a truck.

The dead students were Karl Olsen, 22, St. Peter, Minn., and Don V. Anderson, 21, Washburn, Wis. Nine other students were injured in the crash.

Olsen and Anderson died immediately after the crash, while Myrum was brought to a Minneapolis hospital where he died late today.

Myrum had built up an outstanding athletic record at Gustavus. His football teams won the state conference titles in 1935, 1936 and 1937, and tied for second place in the race this year.

The bus, carrying about 15 players on the team, was returning from De Pere, Wis., where Gustavus Adolphus defeated St. Norbert’s college yesterday.
