Benton Harbor, MI Two Car Head On Crash, Sep 1956
FIVE PERSONS KILLED IN TWO-CAR COLLISION.
Benton Harbor, Mich. (AP) - Five Michigan persons were killed and three injured in a head-on car crash at the crest of a hill six miles east of Benton Harbor Wednesday night. The dead were an elderly couple and three teenagers, two of them on leave from the Marines.
Deputy Sheriff Art Johnson said the two cars met at the top of a hill on U.S. 12 where both drivers were required to make a curve and stay in their lanes.
Apparently, he said, the car driven by DAVID IMMOOS, 19, of Coloma failed to stay on its side of the road. It met a car driven by BERNARD WILLMING, 67, of Watervliet.
In addition to IMMOOS, who was one of the Marines, and WILLMING, the dead included WILLMING'S wife, FLORENCE, 63; WALTER COX, 18, of Benton Harbor; and RICHARD KINZIER, 18 of Coloma, the other Marine.
